(Baonghean.vn) - Japanese experts cooperated with the 10th Youth Volunteer Team to test-plant this garlic variety on 1,000 square meters of terraced fields in Buoc Mu village (Na Ngoi).

Located at an altitude of more than 2,000m above sea level, Buoc Mu village, Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son district) has a harsh climate with low temperatures, high humidity and steep slopes. In particular, heavy snowfall occurs in winter.

That is the reason why nearly 80 hectares of agricultural land in the village have difficulty in selecting suitable crop varieties for cultivation. People can only cultivate one crop of upland rice in the dry season, the rest of the year they have to leave it fallow.

Realizing that this was a huge waste of natural resources, the Youth Volunteer Corps 10 based in Na Ngoi (Ky Son) coordinated with Japanese experts to test-plant Sanuki white garlic on the Corps' hilly land.

After two trial crops in 2017 and early 2018, this Japanese garlic variety has adapted well to the climate and soil conditions in Na Ngoi, achieving outstanding productivity and quality.

From the initial success, these days, the Team and Japanese experts have decided to continue to implement the third experimental crop on terraced fields with an area of 1,000 m2 at Buoc Mu village.
