The world's leading video sharing network was inaccessible this morning.

Since 8am, many Internet users in Vietnam have complained about not being able to access YouTube. "Early in the day, I still played the clip for my grandchild to watch, but after a while it wouldn't load," Bich Thuy wrote on Facebook. "After logging back in, the YouTube page appeared blank."

On the web version, visitors may report Error 503 or Error 500 - Internal server problem. Meanwhile, the smartphone and tablet application cannot load new content, displaying "Invalid response received".

Thousands of newspapers have been unable to access YouTube since around 8am.

Not only in Vietnam, many users around the world are also experiencing the same situation. Downdetector, a site that reports problems with online services, recorded more than 2,200 reports of not being able to access this video sharing network.

A Google representative said they were aware of reports of users being unable to access YouTube, YouTube TV, and YouTube Music. "We are looking into the issue and will provide a fix as soon as it is resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience," the Team YouTube account said on Twitter.

YouTube speaks out about the latest incident.

On Twitter, Marques Brownlee, the YouTube channel with the same name and more than seven million followers, said he had never seen the video sharing network down for more than 30 minutes like this time.

The situation of YouTube being inaccessible for a long time rarely happens. In August 2014, YouTube was paralyzed for more than two hours. At that time, many users around the world as well as in Vietnam when accessing the world's largest video sharing service saw the message 500 Internal Server Error with the words "Sorry, something went wrong". Before that, in November 2013, YouTube also lost connection for about 30 minutes but did not affect a large area.

The most famous incident, however, was a full decade ago, when a Pakistani network operator, asked by the government to censor a movie trailer on YouTube, accidentally caused the video service to crash worldwide for several hours in February 2008.

Meanwhile, in July, many people also expressed anger on Twitter when the online television service YouTube TV was interrupted during the 2018 World Cup semi-final match between England and Croatia.

In May 2018, YouTube announced that it had 1.8 billion monthly active users. This means that the total number of users on the world's number one video sharing network is actually larger. According to the latest data, Vietnam is currently in the top 5 markets with the most YouTube video viewing time in the world.

At around 9:35 a.m. today, YouTube was accessible again, but Google has not yet announced the cause of the problem.
