On September 19, 2018, Nghe An province coordinated with the ASEAN - Japan Center to organize a Conference on "Investment Environment in Nghe An, a coastal province in the North Central region of Vietnam" in Tokyo (Japan). This is the opening event of the working trip of the high-ranking delegation of Nghe An province led by Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation in Japan. The conference aims to provide the latest information on the socio-economic situation, human resources, and infrastructure of Nghe An province; Promote the investment and business environment, call for Japanese enterprises to invest in Nghe An province; Answer questions of the Japanese business community when investing and doing business in Nghe An province.

The conference was attended by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Masataka Fujita, Secretary General of the ASEAN - Japan Center (AJC) and more than 130 delegates from Japanese enterprises interested in the investment and business environment in Nghe An province. Among them, many investors are partners of infrastructure investors in Nghe An province, including VSIP Nghe An Co., Ltd., WHA Hemaraj Nghe An Joint Stock Company and Hoang Thinh Dat Joint Stock Company.

In addition, the conference was also attended by representatives of banks, non-governmental organizations that play an important role in financial consulting for Japanese investors, international investment and trade promotion organizations, investors, businesses of the two countries and reporters from Vietnamese and Japanese newspapers...

At the conference, Japanese enterprises raised nearly 20 questions of interest regarding the investment and business environment in Nghe An, such as: Policies for textile and shrimp farming investment; Ability to connect traffic, provide electricity and water to serve investors; issues of trade between Chinese and Lao enterprises in Nghe An and vice versa; Import tax on machinery and equipment to create fixed assets for the first time for Japanese investors in Nghe An; Planning for the livestock industry in Nghe An province, orientation to attract agricultural investment (livestock, sweet grass planting); Issues of supporting training of Japanese workers in Nghe An... With such issues raised, it shows the interest of Japanese investors in the investment and business environment in Nghe An.

The conference was divided into 3 sessions: Session 1 introduced an overview of the investment and business environment, orientations for attracting Japanese investment in Nghe An province; Advantages of investing in industrial parks with infrastructure investment in Nghe An province compared to industrial parks nationwide; Session 2 Q&A between Japanese enterprises and leaders of Nghe An province and Session 3 Investment connection.

Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong said that the event was an important event and further tightened the Vietnam - Japan strategic partnership, contributing to connecting trade and investment between Vietnamese localities such as Nghe An province. Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province also highly appreciated the quality and investment efficiency of Japanese investors. He also continued to call on Japanese investors to pay attention to investing in Japanese projects with strengths in Nghe An, contributing to strengthening the long-standing relationship between Nghe An province and Japan established since Dong Du.

On the side of enterprises investing and doing business in infrastructure, Ms. Keiko Fujita, Chief Representative of VSIP Group in Japan, Ms. Anchalee Prasertchand, Director of Customer Development for Industrial Plants and International Markets, Hemaraj Group and Mr. Hoang Van Duong - Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Hoang Thinh Dat Joint Stock Company introduced an overview of VSIP Nghe An, Hemaraj WHA Nghe An and Hoang Mai 1 industrial parks; the competitiveness of these industrial parks in attracting investment compared to industrial parks that have invested in infrastructure in Vietnam, preferential policies, and investment support in industrial parks in Nghe An...

Positive signal

Through this conference, Nghe An province has the opportunity to approach many Japanese enterprises to introduce the province's potential and strengths in attracting investment, as well as the orientation to attract Japanese investment. Nghe An province highly appreciates the investment quality of projects implemented by Japanese investors in the area, however, the quantity is still modest compared to the potential and needs of the parties.

Nghe An provincial leaders said that this conference is the first step for investment and business connection activities between Nghe An province and the Japanese business community. Nghe An province will continue to coordinate with the Japan ASEAN Center to connect and attract Japanese businesses to attend conferences as well as member businesses of the Center to study and learn about the investment environment in Nghe An province.

Currently, in Nghe An province, there are 8 Japanese FDI projects, with a total investment capital of 94.15 million USD, notably a number of large factories such as: Yabashi White Stone Processing Factory of Yabashi Limestone Mining Company Vietnam (joint venture between Nghe An Minerals Joint Stock Company and YABASHI, MEIWA Company) in Block 11, Quy Hop town, Quy Hop district, Nghe An province, with a total investment capital of 4.51 million USD; Export garment factory of MLB Tenergy Company Limited in Yen Thanh town Industrial Cluster, Yen Thanh district, with an investment capital of 20 million USD...
