Renting ship 67 to go out to sea, Quynh Luu fishermen earn hundreds of millions of dong per trip

Mr. Tran Xuan Danh, Captain of fishing boat NA 999.29, has just arrived at Lach Quen port for a vacation. After nearly a month of fishing at sea, his boat caught more than 100 tons of fish with a revenue of over 400 million VND.

The boat he and his crew used to go to sea was rented from Dien Chau fishermen, because before that, their fishing was not effective, the boat often stayed on shore. After renting it to Lach Quen port to operate with lead seine, fishing efficiency was improved, each trip back to shore was profitable, earning from 300 - 400 million VND/trip.

Currently, in Quynh Long commune, there are 2 more fishermen who are also renting boats to exploit seafood. These two boats were rented from fishermen in Nghi Loc district and Cua Lo town, both boats are made of composite hulls. After operating at Lach Quen port (Quynh Thuan), the fishermen have converted and changed their occupation to exploit more effectively.

Fisherman Tran Ngoc Thanh said that when he rented the boat for use, the previous owner was fishing with a 4-pole seine. "When we brought it back to the locality, we switched to seine fishing and refurbished some other equipment to meet fishing conditions. Each seafood fishing trip back to shore, the total revenue will be calculated with the boat owner; after deducting expenses, each fisherman earns 10 - 12 million VND," Thanh happily shared.

According to statistics, the whole Quynh Long commune has 176 boats, including 110 offshore fishing boats (capacity from 400 - 1,100 CV). Implementing shipbuilding according to Decree 67 of the Government, Quynh Long commune has 13 newly registered ships, up to now, 11 ships are operating at sea.

Along with 3 rented boats from other localities, most of Quynh Long fishermen's boat 67 fish effectively and profitably. Each fisherman on boat 67 earns an income of 14 - 15 million VND/month.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Chat - Chairman of Quynh Long Commune Fisheries Association said: Fishermen in the commune have formed 18 exploitation groups. Most fishermen have experience in fishing, onshore services are developed, and fishing boat repairs are also carried out quickly, thanks to which Quynh Long's boats operate effectively.
