Revealing the intention of US aircraft approaching Russian border
The US Air Force regularly conducts reconnaissance operations near Russia's western and northern borders. Aleksandr Gusev, director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Planning, explained the real intentions behind this move.
According to Fort-russ, on October 21, there was information that an American reconnaissance aircraft, the Boeing RC-135U, approached the western border of Russia. This aircraft was detected in Lithuanian airspace and then in Latvia and Estonia. The closest distance the RC-135U flew to the Russian border was about 53 km.
This is not the first case of US aircraft flying near the Russian border in recent times, as the activity of foreign reconnaissance aircraft and drones near the Russian border has increased significantly.
The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly called on Washington to stop such activities, but the Pentagon has refused.
“The goal is to collect reconnaissance data. The planes are equipped with high-resolution equipment to film military bases of our Armed Forces. This information will be transferred to the Pentagon desks, analyzed and evaluated,” Gusev said.
The expert stressed that the US maintains 65,000 troops in Europe, so they "need to do something". "In particular, they are very interested in the S-300, S-400, S-500 and Iskander defense systems, especially our intercontinental missile deployment points, but they will not be able to reach these places," Mr. Gusev stressed.
In a related development, a British reconnaissance aircraft also just conducted a flight over Israel and Jordan, close to the Syrian border.
The British Boeing RC-135W Rivet is believed to be on a mission to spy on the S-300 defense system that Russia has just transferred to Syria.
This proves that Russia is being watched by NATO as well as its closest allies.
