The founder of the candy making profession was Mr. Tong - a native of Vu Ban, Nam Dinh who came here to live and develop this profession in Do Luong. Before the candy making profession, Vinh Duc was a poor land, people lived by farming. In the beginning, only a few families did it, gradually the whole village developed to produce peanut candy and rice paper. Photo: Duc Anh
Previously, the village mainly produced honeycomb cakes and peanut candies. The ingredients used to make cakes and candies were: peanuts, sesame, sugar, molasses... These were the main ingredients made by people in the village or neighboring areas. Photo: Duc Anh
There was a time when the candy making village in Vinh Duc was in decline. The reason was that due to two long wars, it was difficult to buy raw materials such as peanuts and sesame, so many households in the village quit their jobs or switched to other jobs. Photo: Duc Anh
At this time, the "peanut candy village" is bustling with production season, preparing goods to sell during the traditional Tet holiday. Photo: Duc Anh
Besides peanut candy production facilities, Cu Do also has facilities specializing in rice paper production. Some of the raw materials are created right in the craft village. During Tet, households making rice paper and baking it right away still cannot meet the demand of candy factories. Photo: Duc Anh

Of the total 150 households participating in the craft village, 14 households specialize in making candy, while others produce rice paper and other products with a monthly revenue of nearly 40 - 50 million VND/household. Photo: Duc Anh
