(Baonghean.vn) - According to Nghe An Customs Department, out of the total tax debt of nearly 40 billion VND of the Customs sector at present, overdue debt is very little collectible, and up to 39,789,369 million VND is classified as difficult to collect debt.

It is known that this is the debt of declarations arising before July 2007 (when the Tax Administration Law took effect) and of dissolved, missing, absconding, deceased business owners... businesses, so it has been backlogged for many years and cannot be collected.

According to Nghe An Customs Department, the amount of tax debt recovered as of October 15, 2018 is1,652 billion VND. The estimated amount of overdue tax debt to be collected for the whole year of 2018 is only 1.8 billion VND. Although it is not possible to collect, this type of debt is still increasing due to late payment penalties.

Currently, the Customs sector is focusing on solutions to urge the timely collection of tax debts to the state budget such as: Strengthening the review and grasping the tax debt situation at the unit; classifying debt groups that are collectable and uncollectible, each debt group has a detailed assessment of each debt according to each debtor enterprise, collecting information on the actual operating status of the enterprise, the reasons for not being able to collect the debt, proposing appropriate debt handling measures according to the Debt Management Process issued with Decision No. 1504/QD-TCHQ dated May 5, 2018 of the General Department of Customs.
