Ho Van Nho used sophisticated tricks to swindle more than 11 billion VND. |
According to initial information, during his time as a post office officer in A Luoi district, Ho Van Nho was assigned to be in charge of paying pensions and social insurance benefits for three communes: Hong Thai, Bac Son and A Dot.
In June 2016, due to lack of money, Nho came up with the idea of defrauding and appropriating property. Nho used pension and social insurance benefit receipts to fill in the beneficiary information himself, then hired Le Van Ten (66 years old), Le Hong Noi (56 years old), and A Viet Thien (63 years old, all residing in A Luoi district) to impersonate the people named in the receipts.
Then, Nho took these 3 people to meet with lenders who pledged their pension and social insurance benefits to borrow money at an interest rate of 20%/year. Each loan was from 40-50 million VND, with interest payments of 4-5 million VND/month.

Authorities read the decisions to prosecute and arrest Ho Van Nho. |
Because Nho was the one who signed the loan agreement as a witness, he was trusted by the creditor.
With the above trick, from June 2016 to June 2018, Ho Van Nho and his accomplices used 225 votes to borrow from 5 people, embezzling over 11 billion VND.
The case is currently being further investigated by Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police.
