"The sanctions imposed by the United States will not prevent us from continuing to build a prosperous socialist society and a democratic community consistent with the will of the Cuban people," Carlos Fernandez de Cossio told reporters after US Assistant to the President for National Security John Bolton announced new US sanctions against the country.
He also stressed that Cuba will continue to defend its sovereignty in choosing its own political system and future. As for the US, Cuba will maintain its dialogue stance as with the rest of the world.
The Cuban diplomat added that Washington's aggressive actions were related to the internal political process ahead of the National Assembly elections.
