Two Vietnamese killed in factory explosion in South Korea

According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, on November 10, an explosion occurred at the fluoropolymer factory of Foosung Precision Industry Company in the eastern city of Wonju, killing two people and injuring two others.

This is also a factory where Vietnamese workers are working. The incident happened at 9:45 am local time (7:45 am Hanoi time). Large columns of black smoke rose into the sky above the factory. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Firefighters in Wonju City said a male worker in his 20s suffered third-degree burns to his face, while two other surviving workers in their 30s suffered second-degree burns to their legs and a broken left leg. The two victims were taken to Wonju Medical Center. According to Yonhap, the victims were all Vietnamese workers.

An official at Wonju Severance Christian Hospital said treatment for the injuries was being carried out urgently, but did not provide further details about the health conditions of the patients.

Officials at Foosung Precision Industry Co., Ltd., which produces fluoropolymer products used in semiconductors, petrochemicals, food processing, pharmaceuticals, papermaking and metal processing, have not yet commented on the incident.
