Murderer who robbed 40 thousand dong at Cua Nam flower garden received sentence

Murder suspect arrested in Vinh City after 36 days of committing the crime
(Baonghean.vn) - More than a month after discovering a homeless man murdered, the police have arrested the perpetrator.
On November 14, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first instance criminal trial of Nguyen Dinh Luc (born 1991), residing in Cam Binh commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh. Defendant Luc was prosecuted by the Provincial People's Procuracy for the crimes of "Murder" and "Robbery".
During their time as vagrants and beggars, Luc and Mr. Than got to know each other. Luc stole money from Mr. Than many times, and was once beaten by Mr. Than, so he wanted to take revenge. On the evening of March 22, Luc saw Mr. Than drunk and sleeping in the Cua Nam flower garden (Vinh City), so he took 30,000 VND from Mr. Than's pocket to go out and eat.

Thinking that the victim had a lot of money, Luc had the intention of taking it, so he returned to where he was lying. After helping Mr. Than to a bush in the flower garden, Luc asked Mr. Than for money. Mr. Than said he had no money, so Luc hit him repeatedly on the head with bricks and tiles. When he checked and found the victim dead, Luc searched Mr. Than and took 40,000 VND. On April 29, Nguyen Dinh Luc turned himself in to the Nghe An Provincial Police.
At the trial, the defendant Luc admitted all his crimes. Luc said that he was angry that Mr. Than did not give him money and beat him, so he hit back to get revenge and did not intend to kill the victim. After robbing Mr. Than, Luc used the money to pay for the bus fare when he escaped to his hometown.
Considering the case as a whole, the People's Court sentenced Nguyen Dinh Luc to 18 years in prison for "Murder", 4 years in prison for "Robbery"; forced the defendant to compensate more than 112 million VND to the victim's family; provide 1.5 million VND per month for Mr. Than's child, and 250,000 VND per month for the victim's parents.
