Barber arrested with 4 homemade guns and hundreds of bullets

On November 15, Major Nguyen Duy Loc - Deputy Head of Cu M'gar District Police, Dak Lak Province, said that the unit had just arrested a subject for manufacturing and storing military weapons and explosives.

According to Major Loc, at around 6:00 p.m. on November 13, from a source of crime denunciations from the people, the Police Team of Administrative Management and Social Order of Cu M'gar District Police coordinated with the police force of Cu Sue Commune to catch Nguyen Quoc Thang (alias Ty Den, 32 years old, residing in Hamlet 1, Cu Sue Commune, Cu M'gar District) red-handed while manufacturing and storing military weapons and explosives.

Here, the police also seized 4 fully assembled air guns, hundreds of lead bullets and components and machines used to manufacture guns. In addition, through advocacy work, Thang also persuaded his relatives to hand over to the investigation agency 2 homemade flintlock guns, 1 lead air gun and 1 alcohol air gun.

All guns, components and machines Thang used to make guns were seized at the investigation agency.

Immediately afterwards, the suspect and all the evidence were brought to the police headquarters for further investigation. At the investigation agency, suspect Thang confessed: Thang used to work as a barber in Cu Sue commune.

Around the beginning of August 2018, through research on the Internet, Thang discovered that someone was selling components used to assemble and manufacture homemade guns. Thang then ordered the components from this person by mail and went home to figure out how to assemble and manufacture 3 air guns. While assembling the 4th gun, he was discovered and arrested by the police.

Hundreds of lead bullets were seized at the house of suspect Thang.

According to Thang’s statement, all the guns manufactured were used for… hunting entertainment purposes. The case is currently being further investigated and clarified by the Cu M’gar District Police to handle the subject according to regulations.
