China hopes to strengthen ties with Russia
(Baonghean.vn) - According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying on November 16, Chinese officials expressed hope to strengthen cooperation with Russia, in the context of the two countries' leaders having closer contacts.
Speaking at a press conference, commenting on the recent talks between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ms. Hua Chunying stated: "Regarding the talks in Singapore, we believe that the Russia-China relationship is currently at an unprecedented high level.
The leaders of the two countries regularly take advantage of all favorable opportunities... to maintain close bilateral contact and address important regional and global issues. We highly value the relationship between the two countries, and hope that Beijing and Moscow will take every opportunity to further strengthen cooperation."
A representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry affirmed that contacts between Moscow and Beijing play an important role in ensuring common peace and global development.

Previously, during talks on November 15, on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Singapore, the Chinese side expressed its goodwill to strengthen cooperation with Russia in a series of key areas in the bilateral relationship, including energy, trade and innovative technology.
For his part, President Putin stated: "Russia is ready to work with China to implement existing agreements, as well as further promote cooperation in the fields of energy, space, aviation, science and technology, along with cooperation in the field of joint research and the digital economy."
According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, in 2017, trade turnover between Russia and China reached nearly 87 billion USD, an increase of more than 20 billion USD over the same period last year, making China an important trade partner of Russia alongside the European Union (EU).
