Tieu Vy failed the Top Model award at Miss World
The Vietnamese beauty stopped at the top 32, while the victory belonged to Miss France in the sub-contest on the evening of November 20.
The "Top Model & Designer Award" competition night was held at the auditorium of Sonic Banling Hotspring Resort, China. Of which, "Top Model" was an important part because the winner went straight to the top 40 finalists. This title belonged to the French beauty. The remaining contestants of the Top 5 came from China, Senegal, Korea and South Africa.

The catwalk skills competition consisted of two rounds. In the first round, 120 contestants competed to select the top 32. The representative of Vietnam was in this group, continuing to perform in the second round with costumes by Chinese designer - Li Qiqi. In addition to Tieu Vy, some Asian representatives in the top 32 were Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan...
In the "Designer" award to honor costumes, cThe winning design belongs to China and South Africa.The South African contestant wore a black, strapless, figure-hugging dress, while the host country’s beauty wore a red, peacock-inspired dress. The top 5 also included Portugal, Thailand, and Malaysia. This is the first time two designs have won this award.

The Vietnamese representative chose a white dress designed by Cong Tri, inspired by the narcissus flower. "Tieu Vy's beauty is as pure and innocent as the petals when they bloom. Narcissus is a symbol of prosperity and wealth, rebirth and renewal, luck and happiness," he said.

The strapless dress is made of high-quality satin, the flower embellishment on the costume is made of organza fabric, with stones added to increase the light-catching effect on stage. The design took 10 days to make. In addition to this dress, Tieu Vy also chose some other designs by Cong Tri for sideline activities of the contest.

Tran Tieu Vy was crowned Miss Vietnam 2018 in September. The 18-year-old girl from Quang Nam has a gentle, elegant beauty and a bright smile, meeting the criteria of Miss World. She is 1.74 m tall, with measurements of 84-63-90 cm. Tieu Vy's weaknesses are her lack of confidence in communication and poor English. She left for the contest on November 9. In the "Beauty with a Heart" contest, Tieu Vy carried out the project "Bringing clean water to Niu village". This is one of the important contests at Miss World. In 2017, the project "Carrying electricity to the village" helped Do My Linh win this award.
Miss World 2018 will feature 120 contestants from various countries and territories. The final will be held in Sanya, China on December 8. Miss India, Manushi Chhillar, will crown the winner.
