Researchers have issued a new warning for people who have the habit of watching TV. Accordingly, the best viewing time for health is 2 hours and 12 minutes per day.

New research conducted by the University of Glasgow (Scotland) shows that watching TV for hours at the end of the day, which is a daily habit of countless people around the world, can lead to the risk of "early death".

The risk is linked to the habit of lying in front of the TV for hours while smoking, drinking alcohol or eating while watching. The study by the University of Glasgow was conducted on a group of people aged 40-69, to find out how many people watched TV for 4 hours or more a day.

This is a group of people who spend a “high” amount of time watching TV each day, and can watch during the day or be glued to the TV screen at night. In the group of people participating in the study, those with a “healthy lifestyle” watched TV only about 2.2 hours per day or a moderately healthy level of 2.9 hours per day.

Researchers also studied people who slept less than 7 hours or 9 hours per day.

Citing data from the UK Biobank, researchers also said that sleeping too much or too little also makes people healthier and shorter. In addition, obesity, physical activity, smoking and diet also affect the quality of life and longevity.

Research from the University of Glasgow, published in The Lancet Public Health, also found that TV viewing time and sleep time were “emerging risks” in assessing human lifestyle.

“The lifestyle scores suggest that high mortality rates are attributable to modifiable and therefore avoidable factors,” the researchers concluded./.
