China donates $17 million worth of armor to Argentina ahead of G20 summit

China's shipment of armored vehicles and anti-explosive equipment is expected to help Argentina ensure security during the G20 Summit.

The Chinese government has just provided free military equipment to the Argentine Ministry of Security and Federal Police to ensure security for the upcoming G20 summit in the capital Buenos Aires, according toArmy Recognition.

This military shipment has a total value of about 17 million USD, including 4 Dong Phong CSK-131 armored vehicles, 30 motorbikes, an explosive detection and neutralization system, and many protective suits for bomb disposal forces.

Dongfeng CSK-131 is a light armored vehicle developed from the EQ2050 model mass-produced in the Chinese army. The hull and glass of the vehicle can withstand 7.62x39mm bullets from a distance of 100m, while the front can withstand armor-piercing bullets from AK rifles.

Often referred to as the "Chinese Humvee," the CSK-131 armored vehicle can carry five passengers and a maximum payload of two tons. The roof can accommodate a machine gun turret or a remote-controlled weapon station.

The G20 summit, which will bring together leaders of the world's 20 largest economies, will be held in Buenos Aires from November 30 to December 1. Argentina plans to deploy 22,000 police officers and 700 agents from the Ministry of Security to protect the event, and is in contact with security agencies from the US, UK, Brazil, Italy and Spain to deal with the risk of protests against the summit.
