(Baonghean.vn) - In order to support farmers in producing finished incense products and avoid selling raw materials, Quynh Luu district has supported 75 million VND to buy incense stick making machines.

Hamlet 1 Tien Thanh, Quynh Thang Commune (Quynh Luu) has 96 households, of which 100% of households grow vetiver. Every year, people here produce dozens of tons of vetiver roots, exported to provinces in the country.

In 2017, Quynh Thang commune was recognized by the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district as a village with the profession of processing raw materials and producing incense sticks in hamlet 1 Tien Thanh.

Since the development of vetiver, people have mainly grown and sold raw products after harvest, without processing, so the value is low. Therefore, people have not focused on promoting the advantage of local raw materials to produce finished incense.

To develop the craft village and especially increase the value of the products, Quynh Thang commune was supported by the district People's Committee with 5 incense stick making machines, each worth 15 million VND; the total support value is 75 million VND. The incense stick making machine has a capacity of 200 sticks/minute, equivalent to 80kg of finished products/day.

With the 5 supported machines, the people in hamlet 1 Tien Thanh now have 9 machines to produce incense sticks. Putting the machines into use contributes to increasing the value of the products from the planting stage to the processing and consumption stages.
