Nghe An: 135 thousand tons of seafood exploited in 11 months

Among the localities with high seafood output are Quynh Lap commune - Hoang Mai town and Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district.

Quynh Lap commune has 200 fishing boats, of which 156 have a capacity of 90 CV or more, with an output of over 30 thousand tons in the first 11 months of the year, with an income value of about 300 billion VND.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Chat - Chairman of the Fisheries Association of Quynh Long Commune (Quynh Luu) said that the local seafood output is high every year because fishermen have experience in exploiting by means of purse seine and seine nets. Quynh Long Commune has a total of 170 boats, of which 110 have a capacity of over 90 CV. The catch in the first 11 months of the year is nearly 30 thousand tons.

Quynh Luu district is the locality with the largest seafood catch in the province, in the first 11 months of the year, it exploited 56 thousand tons/plan 64 thousand tons. Next is Hoang Mai town, which exploited more than 40 thousand tons/plan 42 thousand tons.

According to the Department of Fisheries, the output of exploitation in 11 months of 2018 reached 135 thousand tons of various seafood, an increase of more than 10 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. The economic value is estimated at nearly 2,800 billion VND. The plan for 2018 is for the whole province to exploit 139 thousand tons of various seafood.

Nghe An province currently has 3,539 fishing boats of all kinds, with a total capacity of over 605,000 horsepower. Of these, there are nearly 1,648 boats over 90 horsepower.
