Celebrating the 43rd Anniversary of National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 2, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Nghe An province coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard Command to organize the celebration of the 43rd National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2018).
Attending the event were comrade Tran Hai Binh - Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Nghe An province, representatives of provincial departments and agencies; former volunteer soldiers in Laos, Lao students studying at universities and colleges in the province.

At the ceremony, the leader of the Provincial Border Guard Command gave a speech recalling the history of the struggle of the Lao army and people, as well as the assistance of Vietnam, which gave birth to the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Over the past 43 years, the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have continued to be consolidated and developed.
Promoting the success of the “Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017”, the two countries continue to implement many cooperation projects in areas such as training high-quality human resources; cultural exchange and cooperation; mobilizing people not to migrate illegally, protecting national border markers, and strictly complying with the Vietnam-Laos Border Agreement.

In particular, the twinning movement between the border villages of the two provinces of Vietnam and Laos has gradually raised the awareness and responsibility of the ethnic people in the border areas for the cause of protecting the sovereignty and security of each country's border. In the 5 years, from 2013 to 2018, Nghe An had 19 pairs of villages out of 100 pairs of Vietnam - Laos twinned villages in the whole country.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association awarded 4 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in people-to-people diplomacy, fostering solidarity, friendship and special cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.![]() |
