Statistics in the US show that about 90 to 95% of tumors that appear in the kidney are cancerous. Kidney cancer accounts for 3% of all cancers in adults, ranking seventh among cancers in men and 10th in women.

The disease is common in people aged 50 to 70, with some cases occurring at a very young age. In the early stages when the tumor size is less than 7 cm, the disease often has no typical symptoms. In the late stages, about 30% of patients have symptoms of abdominal pain, blood in the urine, abdominal mass on examination... Below are some common signs of kidney cancer:

Blood in urine

If you notice pink, brown or other slight discoloration in your urine, it could be a sign of kidney cancer. It is usually visible to the naked eye when urinating, but if the amount of blood is very small, it can only be detected during a urinalysis. Other conditions that can cause hematuria include bladder infections, kidney stones, cysts or inflammation. If you see blood in your urine, it is best to see a doctor for timely examination.

Pain or discomfort in the lower back or hips

Kidney cancer pain usually starts on one side of the body, in the lower back or flank. The pain can be persistent and can range from dull to severe.

Abdominal tumor

Kidney cancer patients can feel the tumor when touching their abdomen. However, most kidney tumors are deep in the abdomen and are difficult to feel, and can only be clearly seen on ultrasound or CT scan.

Fatigue, anemia

Fatigue is a common symptom in most cancer patients. Cancer cells interfere with the body's normal functions and activities, making the patient irritable and weak. In kidney cancer patients, anemia can also cause severe fatigue and weakness.

Sudden weight loss

Sudden weight loss often occurs when cancer patients do not diet or want to lose weight. The common cause is that the patient loses appetite, leading to anorexia and malnutrition.

Fever

Fever of unknown origin can also be a sign of kidney cancer, especially when combined with the above symptoms. In case of suspected kidney cancer, the doctor may order a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Duc, Head of the Department of Urology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, said that kidney cancer in the early stages, when the tumor is less than 7cm in size, often has no typical symptoms. In the late stages, about 30% of patients have symptoms of abdominal pain, blood in the urine, and abdominal mass is found on examination.

To detect kidney cancer early, people should have regular health check-ups every year, at least once every 6 months, especially those over 55 years old or those at high risk.

Therefore, to detect kidney cancer early, people should have regular health check-ups every year, at least once every 6 months, especially those over 55 years old or those at high risk.

In particular, people should quit smoking, avoid exposure to asbestos, eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

Obese people are often at higher risk of disease. Therefore, in addition to a reasonable diet, reducing fat, greasy foods, adding foods rich in fiber, you should also exercise 30 minutes a day to increase the body's resistance.

Many studies have shown that smoking is closely related to the incidence of kidney cancer. Smokers have a 1.4 times higher risk of developing kidney cancer than non-smokers.

Besides smoking, there are 6 habits that can also be important factors causing kidney cancer that many people still do every day:

1. Regularly buy processed foods
2. Holding urine
3. Lazy to drink water
4. Indiscriminate use of drugs
5. Irregular living habits
6. Laziness
