Nghe An Southeast Economic Zone attracts 211 investment projects
(Baonghean.vn) - In the Southeast economic zone, a number of projects have been put into operation effectively, contributing nearly 10% of the total budget revenue in the province, creating jobs for nearly 16,000 workers.
On December 6, the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone held a conference to summarize professional work in 2018 and deploy tasks in 2019. Comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the conference.

Difficulty attracting investment
In 2018, despite certain difficulties, the Economic Zone Management Board (Southeast Economic Zone) has basically completed the planned targets. Focusing resources on building infrastructure of the Southeast Economic Zone and Industrial Parks in the province, completing Terminal No. 5 of Cua Lo Port, DKC petroleum port and speeding up the construction progress of phase 2 of N5 route, Road No. 2, Area A, Nam Cam Industrial Park, Dong Hoi Industrial Park wastewater treatment system...
Investment promotion activities were carried out in the right direction, focusing on promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles for investors in project implementation, initially resolving the situation of people reproducing in areas B, C, Nam Cam Industrial Park. Industrial park, urban and service projects VSIP Nghe An, WHA Hemaraj 1 Industrial Park Nghe An accelerated the progress of synchronous and modern infrastructure construction to meet the needs of attracting secondary investment projects for business investment.
Some projects have been put into operation effectively, contributing nearly 10% of the total budget revenue in the province, creating jobs for nearly 16,000 workers and implementing social security in localities.

However, according to the assessment, the investment attraction situation in the province has not been as expected, in which foreign investment attraction is low, showing signs of decline. In 2017, 24 investment projects were granted investment registration, but in 2018, it decreased to 14 projects, with a total registered investment capital of 3,719.75 billion VND. Of which, 05 FDI projects have registered investment capital of 50.82 million USD. Accumulated to date, the Southeast Economic Zone and industrial parks of Nghe An province have attracted 211 projects. Of which: 38 FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of 1.54 billion USD and 173 domestic projects with a total registered investment capital of 36,330.2 billion VND.
Investment in infrastructure construction in economic zones is still slow, leading to the infrastructure of economic zones and industrial parks not meeting the requirements to attract investors. Although the results of investment promotion in 2018 have had many outstanding results, the effectiveness of attracting investment is not commensurate, some large-scale projects are still stuck in investment procedures, not meeting the requirements. Support and resolution of difficulties and problems for investors is still slow at times and in some places.

At the conference, some businesses also shared some difficulties related to infrastructure, electricity, land waste in industrial parks... affecting business operations.
In 2019, strive toattract 20 - 25 projects
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa acknowledged the efforts of the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone and requested the Board to continue to build the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone into a multi-industry, multi-functional economic zone; Continue to mobilize resources to accelerate the progress of infrastructure construction in the Southeast Economic Zone and industrial parks in a synchronous and modern direction to meet the requirements of industrial development, high-tech industry and environmental protection. The province's policy is to fill up industrial clusters, and currently there are 3 relatively complete industrial parks: VSIP, WHA and Hoang Thinh Dat.
Regarding the opinions of the delegates, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone and relevant departments to review the investment situation inside and outside the industrial park, to avoid the phenomenon of abandoning and wasting land in industrial parks.
