The 2019 Western Spring Festival will be held in Con Cuong district.
(Baonghean.vn) - On December 7, the Department of Culture and Sports - the Standing Agency of the Organizing Committee of the Western Spring Festival 2019 held a meeting to deploy the Provincial People's Committee's plan to organize the festival.
According to No. 691/KH-UBND, dated November 7, 2018 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the Western Spring Festival 2019 will be held in Con Cuong district for 2 days (January 26 and 27, 2019, i.e. December 21 and 22 of the lunar calendar), broadcast live on NTV.

The festival aims to preserve and promote the fine customs and practices of the ethnic communities in Western Nghe An on the occasion of the traditional New Year, strengthen and consolidate the great solidarity of the Vietnamese ethnic groups in general and Nghe An province in particular through cultural and artistic exchange activities between ethnic groups; promote and introduce the tourism potential of Western Nghe An to domestic and international friends.
The Organizing Committee agreed on the basic content of the Festival Night including: Performing folk songs, folk music and folk dances, excerpts from traditional folk festival rituals and ceremonies; Performing ethnic costumes; Exchanges in drumming, gongs, carving, bamboo dancing; ethnic minority folk games to celebrate the Spring Festival. At the same time, organizing tourism promotion activities, displaying and introducing typical cultural and tourism products of the people of Western Nghe An....
The overall content must highlight the unique identities of the five ethnic minorities of Nghe An province, including efforts to restore and demonstrate the identities of the O Du and Dan Lai ethnic groups (Tho ethnic group) living in Con Cuong district, which are currently at risk of extinction.
The Western Spring Festival is a unique cultural event to preserve and honor the traditional identity of ethnic minorities in Nghe An province, held annually on the occasion of the traditional New Year in 11 mountainous districts. In 2019, Con Cuong district hosted the event and the districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Anh Son, and Tan Ky participated in the event./.
