Nghe An Department of Culture & Sports hands over performance props to Na Xai villagers

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 7, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An province coordinated with the People's Committee of Que Phong district to organize a handover ceremony of sound and lighting equipment, costumes, and props for performing folk art of ethnic minorities to Na Xai village, Hanh Dich commune - Que Phong.

Attending the handover ceremony were comrade Ho Mau Thanh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; local authorities of Que Phong district and many people from Na Xai - Hanh Dich - Que Phong village.

The costume and equipment package to support Na Xai village includes 33 sets of Thai ethnic costumes for men and women, 01 set of gongs; 01 set of carvings; 01 set of drums, 20 flutes, panpipes, xi lo, xo lo; sound and lighting systems, generators, TVs... with a total value of more than 400,000,000 VND.

This is the first locality surveyed and selected to benefit from the program to implement the Project "Preserving and promoting folk performing arts of ethnic minorities in Nghe An province for the period 2018-2023" of the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

Na Xai village consists of 125 households, 566 people, 100% of whom are indigenous Thai people. It is a locality that preserves traditional customs and practices of the ancient Thai people. It has a folk song, folk music, and folk dance club with 21 active members. It has been recognized by the Department of Culture and Sports as a provincial-level cultural model and is a locality chosen by the district as a point for community tourism development.

Benefiting from the Project will create great conditions for the Party Committee, government and people of Que Phong district in general, and the people of Na Xai village and Hanh Dich commune in particular, to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the Thai ethnic group in association with promoting socio-economic activities, especially tourism development.

After the handover signing ceremony, the Na Xai Village Folk Song, Music and Dance Club and the villagers used sound and lighting equipment, costumes, props, etc. to organize a performance program with unique folk songs, music and dances of the Thai ethnic group such as singing and dancing to celebrate a good harvest, bamboo pole dancing, carving rows, singing nhuon, stream, lam, and drinking wine together, etc., creating a united and joyful atmosphere like a village joining a festival./.
