“Reluctant” landfill because people… conveniently
(Baonghean.vn) - Although there are signs saying “No dumping” and warnings of fines, people still dump garbage every day in the Vinh Tan new lake area. The “ownerless” garbage dump not only makes every local resident angry but also spoils the city’s beauty.
Vinh Tan Ecological Urban Area is located right in the center of Vinh city, Nghe An province. With the idea of a green, environmentally friendly city, the highlight in the urban planning is the new lake located on the border between Vinh Tan ward and Trung Do ward. However, right next to the new lake, although there is a "No dumping" sign erected long ago, the landfill here is getting bigger and bigger.

It is known that the current location of the "garbage dump" is near the mouth of the anti-clogging garbage collection pit of the new Vinh Tan lake as well as the domestic wastewater of the area before being transferred to Hung Hoa for treatment. Every morning and afternoon, workers of Nghe An Urban Management and Environment Joint Stock Company collect surface garbage to prevent clogging. That is why the garbage truck of the environmental service enterprise appeared here to collect the collected garbage.
However, people take advantage of the presence of garbage trucks here to conveniently "send garbage" for the company's workers to take away. But with the increasing population, not only household waste but also construction waste appears more and more, leading to the accidental "garbage collection site" becoming more and more swollen and becoming an involuntary landfill. Most of the violators are residents of the Vinh Tan new urban area, because they think "there is no specific block and hamlet planning here, the Environmental Joint Stock Company has not collected monthly garbage collection fees, so people take advantage of late nights to bring garbage to the collection site to throw away".

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Huan, Chairman of Trung Do Ward People's Committee said: "Although this is an area under the management of the ward, it is located in a new urban area. Therefore, the investor must be responsible for preserving the landscape. In order to limit violations by people, the investor also proposed that Trung Do Ward People's Committee put up signs prohibiting dumping with a warning of a fine of 3 million to 7 million VND for each violation, but it seems that no one paid attention."
The "unwilling" landfill has been left for a long time, so the foul smell from it is very strong, affecting the lives of many surrounding households, at the same time causing loss of aesthetics and affecting traffic safety and order.

Faced with the above situation, it is recommended that investors and relevant parties soon find solutions to help households in the new urban area collect garbage and avoid littering.
In addition, it is recommended that relevant forces quickly restore the clean, clear, and beautiful environment to the original landscape of the lake in the new urban area. At the same time, raise the spirit and awareness of maintaining hygiene of each city resident.
