Focus on removing obstacles in new rural construction

Attending the conference were comrades Vu Dai Thang - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment; Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

Up to now, the whole country has 7,722 commune-level units and 61 district-level units meeting the NTM standards. Contributing to that movement, in recent years, the emulation movement "The Planning, Investment and Statistics Sector joins hands to build new rural areas" has set out specific tasks, associated with each unit in the whole sector according to 3 groups of contents including: Group on implementing the work of directing and propagating the emulation movement; Group on building mechanisms, policies, mobilizing domestic and foreign resources to build NTM; Group on building and directing model points to help localities and communes soon achieve the NTM criteria.

At the conference, Mr. Vu Dai Thang - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment and delegates discussed a number of problems and shortcomings in the process of implementing policies in localities such as: Problems in implementing the mechanism of the Law on Public Investment; Decree 161 on special investment mechanisms; encouraging enterprises to invest in agriculture, rural areas, cooperative development programs; problems in statistics, assessment and recognition of meeting the standards of NTM criteria and targets; solutions for developing economic zones and industrial parks in rural areas, solutions for job conversion for workers whose agricultural land has been recovered... From there, report to the leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on issues beyond the authority of localities, as a basis for perfecting policies for the coming period.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee shared: Although the province still has many difficulties and a low starting point, with the support of the Central Government, ministries, branches and the efforts of all the people, Nghe An has achieved very encouraging results in the movement to build new rural areas. The whole province has 203/431 communes and 3 district-level units meeting new rural standards. The province is also focusing on piloting 3 model new rural communes including Kim Lien (Nam Dan), Son Thanh (Yen Thanh) and Quynh Doi (Quynh Luu).

In particular, the province has focused on building new rural areas from the village level in mountainous areas. To date, Nghe An has over 50 villages meeting new rural standards according to the province's criteria. Thanks to that, rural infrastructure is increasingly spacious, meeting the requirements of production and people's daily life, and the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Planning and Investment awarded the Ministry-level Emulation Flag to 6 collectives; Certificates of Merit from the Minister to 37 collectives and 39 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "The Planning, Investment and Statistics Sector joins hands to build new rural areas in the period 2016-2020".
