"The blooming route" of women in Dong Son parish
(Baonghean.vn) - Joining in the atmosphere of preparing for Christmas 2018, having the opportunity to visit Dong Son parish in Long Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, I was surprised to feel the surprising changes. Next to the spacious high-rise buildings are the colorful flower paths of women, creating a peaceful and prosperous look for the parish.
Although busy with farming and family work, every afternoon, women in Dong Son hamlet spend time together planting and taking care of flower roads after they are concreted according to new rural standards.
For women, this has become a regular activity, everyone is always concerned about how to keep the village roads clean and beautiful. Ms. Hoang Thi Huy is nearly 70 years old this year, responding to the movement launched by the women at her superiors, every day she and her sisters in the village plant and take care of flowers and encourage their children and grandchildren to find suitable flowers, first in the family area, then in the village roads and alleys.
According to her, this work does not discriminate between old and young people, everyone should participate and have the responsibility to beautify the village.

Dong Son Hamlet, Long Thanh Commune is a Catholic hamlet with 164 households and 450 people, including 60 members participating in the women's association. After the Women's Union organized a study tour for women to learn about the model flower street in some localities, from the middle of the year until now, this movement has been implemented right in the hamlet.
All were carried out on a voluntary basis, many member families even volunteered to take on the task of beautifying and planting flowers along the road passing their homes, creating a vibrant movement in the residential area.
Thanks to promoting propaganda and mobilization work, creating consensus among the people, and receiving partial financial support from the government to buy flower seeds and fertilizers, the women have recently contributed nearly 3 million VND to buy flower seeds and take charge of managing a nearly 500 meter long road right at the entrance to the hamlet.

Being a low-lying area, it is often flooded during the rainy season, so the women have chosen suitable flowers such as pearl plants, hydrangeas, and zinnias to plant. Thanks to that, the flower roads here are getting longer and longer and are carefully cared for and protected every day.
Ms. Pham Thi Nu - Vice President of the Women's Union of Dong Son hamlet, Long Thanh commune said: In implementing the model "Blooming Road", in addition to the key role of women, there is also the participation of mass organizations such as: Veterans, farmers, and youth unions.
In particular, with the encouragement and active participation of the parish priest and parish committee, the movement has become increasingly widespread. Not only planting flowers to beautify the village, the people here also donated 280 million VND to buy 70 trees to plant on the inter-village road, gradually extending 1 km, creating shade, a clean and green landscape, making an impression on those who have the opportunity to visit the parish.

Ms. Thai Thi Quyen - President of the Women's Union of Long Thanh commune said: In 2008, Dong Son hamlet was recognized as a Cultural Village, and since then, it has been one of the pioneers in local movements, with over 90% of households achieving the title of cultural family every year. The implementation of the construction of a model green - clean - beautiful flower road here has contributed to changing the awareness of the role of women in the religious areas in joining hands to build a living environment.
From the model of "Blooming Road" associated with the movement of green gardens and beautiful alleys in Dong Son parish, this model is currently being replicated by women in 4 parish hamlets and other hamlets in the area, thereby promoting the spirit of solidarity in the community, contributing to environmental protection, improving the quality of life, creating changes in a new rural commune, gradually building Long Thanh commune to soon become a model New Rural commune./.
