Early completion of Smart Traffic Project in Nghe An

On the afternoon of December 18, the Department of Transport held a conference to review the transport work in 2018 and deploy tasks for 2019. In 2018, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the Department of Transport (DOT) focused on leading, directing, operating and achieving good results in all areas of the industry. The Department has attracted many capital sources, deployed investment in the construction of many large-scale traffic works with widespread impact, which are the driving force for socio-economic development. The management of traffic infrastructure has been strengthened with many synchronous solutions to improve the efficiency of exploiting the traffic infrastructure system.

In 2018, the Department of Transport advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Transport to convert 43.5 km of provincial roads to national highways, and advised the Provincial People's Committee to convert 160 km of district roads to provincial roads. The total budget for management and maintenance of roads directly managed by the Department in 2018 was VND 415.973 billion. The Road Maintenance Fund received VND 82.34 billion from road traffic career funds.

At the same time, the State management of transportation has had positive changes in both quality and quantity in management, operation, and service, achieving outstanding results compared to before. In 2018, about 1.815 million passengers passed through the airport, an increase of 1.93% over the same period in 2017.
Sea transport has basically completed wharf No. 5; investment in construction of wharf No. 6 of Cua Lo port is underway. In 2018, the volume of goods passing through the port is estimated at 3.56 million tons.

During the year, the industry conducted 166 car tests, 360 motorbike tests; issued and renewed 97,000 driving licenses of all classes.
Road vehicle inspection is carried out on modern equipment, basically meeting inspection needs, ensuring inspection quality. Carry out administrative reform towards openness, transparency, reducing hassle, ensuring convenience and good service for the people.

Traffic inspections are conducted regularly. In 2018, it is estimated that 1,425 violations were inspected and handled; more than 4.52 billion VND was collected for the State Treasury.
Administrative reform is being implemented in all areas. During the year, the Department has installed a pilot smart traffic control center, integrating available software to effectively monitor and operate all aspects of traffic activities managed by the Department.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the transport sector in 2018; at the same time, he emphasized that the Department of Transport needs to continue to coordinate with all levels, sectors and localities to do a good job of site clearance, resolutely complete projects, especially key projects on schedule such as Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard; Cua Hoi bridge project, coastal road, etc.
The Department of Transport also needs to continue reviewing, assigning and decentralizing state management work in the field of transport, creating the most favorable conditions for people; continuing to rectify illegal vehicles and overloaded vehicles; and managing traffic safety corridors.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien suggested that the Department of Transport should strengthen inspection, supervision, support, and guidance to help districts in appraising traffic works; and put the maintenance management work of districts into order.
The Department continues to promote administrative reform in management and implementation of professional tasks. Quickly complete and submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval the Smart Traffic Project.

On this occasion, Mr. Phan Huy Chuong - Deputy Chief Inspector of Nghe An Department of Transport received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister. The Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 labor groups and 17 individuals who excellently completed their tasks in 2018.
