(Baonghean.vn) - There are still nearly 2 months left until the Lunar New Year 2019, but currently, seafood products in the province are bustling during the Tet season, especially the prices of dried products are increasing continuously.

Son Hai Commune (Quynh Luu) currently has 300 vessels participating in seafood exploitation, most of which are squid fishing.

Fisherman Nguyen Van Thanh in Son Hai commune said: After 10 days of fishing at sea, his boat caught more than 200 kg of squid and dried it all on the boat. Although the output was not large, he and his crew were still very excited because the prices of the last trips of the year have increased compared to before.

Specialty products such as grilled mackerel, sun-dried mackerel, dried squid, sun-dried squid, yellowstripe scad, redstripe scad, shrimp, dried anchovies, dried shrimp, etc. are all products with very high consumption during Tet, 3-4 times higher than normal days.

Specifically, currently the price of grade 1 yellowstripe scad is 180,000 VND/kg, fresh mackerel 220,000 VND/kg, grilled mackerel 300 - 350,000 VND/kg, pomfret 150,000 VND/kg, mantis shrimp 550,000 VND/kg, squid depending on the type ranges from 400,000 - 1.8 million VND/kg...

Ms. Tran Thi Truc - one of the people working in seafood processing at Lach Van fishing port (Dien Chau) said: Among the products, peeled shrimp is still chosen by many people to buy as gifts for Tet, the market is in a fever so the price has increased the most, from 550,000 VND to 800,000 VND/kg for grade 1 peeled shrimp but is still "out of stock". Other seafood increased slightly, on average from 100,000 - 200,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Dien Ngoc Commune People's Committee shared: "Currently, it is the peak time to collect Tet goods. Households that collect a lot of goods early will have fresh fish and shrimp and vice versa, so it is understandable that the price is pushed up. After collecting goods, people will focus on preliminary processing."
