When washing your car yourself, car owners need to follow these steps to keep their vehicle sparkling clean and avoid damaging the paintwork:

1. Park in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight.

Before washing your car, park it in a shaded area or choose early morning or late afternoon when the sun isn't too strong. This will prevent the car from drying out too quickly and leaving stains. Close all windows to prevent water from getting into the car's interior.

2. Prepare the necessary items.

If you regularly wash your car at home, you should prepare the right supplies to achieve the best results without damaging the car's components. These supplies include: car wash soap, a water supply (depending on the size of the car), microfiber towels or bath towels for drying the car... You should also prepare two or three specialized car washing gloves, a large sponge, and a separate brush for cleaning the wheels.

3. Use the specialized solution, mixing it in the correct ratio.

You shouldn't use laundry soap or dish soap because these solutions contain many detergents and are highly alkaline, which can easily damage the paint's protective layer and fade the paint color over time. Instead, you should buy car wash soap, which is available at auto parts stores.

Use two buckets when washing your car. In the first bucket, mix soapy water; make sure to use the correct ratio of water to soap as instructed by the manufacturer. The other bucket should contain clean water to rinse the cleaning cloth.

4. Use a water hose to soften and loosen the dirt and sand clinging to the car.

Use a hose to spray away mud and dirt from the car body and wheel arches. Do not use a high-pressure water hose, as this can cause grit to rub against the paint and scratch it. Try to spray water from top to bottom across all surfaces of the car to wash away dirt.

5. Wash all four wheels beforehand.
