Nghe An Catholic community donates over 15,466m2 of land to build new rural areas
(Baonghean.vn) - This is the data recorded at the 4th Conference of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province, term 2017 - 2022, held on the morning of December 27.
The conference was attended by Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Van Huy, chaired by Priest Nguyen Dang Dien - Chairman of the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee and Vice Chairmen of the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee.

In 2018, with the spirit of determination, effort, and overcoming difficulties, parishioners boldly applied scientific and technical advances to develop production and livestock breeding, creating many models, building large-scale fields with high income; models in the fields of forestry, fisheries, industry, small-scale industry, business, trade services, career development, livestock and poultry farming, shrimp farming, fishing, seafood processing, farm economy, and hill gardens, continued to be maintained and developed, creating conditions to create jobs for thousands of workers with stable income. Many businesses and households continued to stabilize and develop in production and business, achieving incomes from 500 million to 10 billion VND/year.

In the field of building cultural life, parishioners have practiced a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, festivals, building cultural families, cultural residential areas, and cultural villages. In 2018, the number of households achieving the title of cultural family was 76.5%, an increase of 0.3% compared to 2017.
In 2018, the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Public Security sector to launch the movement "Model of peaceful parishes, no lawbreakers and social evils", "Model of peaceful parishes, solidarity to build new rural areas" to conduct annual summaries, timely evaluation and commendation. In 2018, there were 2 models, bringing the total number to 33 models in the whole province.

The Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee and the Catholic Solidarity Committees of districts, cities and towns organized various movements and activities in each parish and church. Through humanitarian and charitable activities, in 2018, the Nghe An Catholic community donated 4.5 billion VND to support humanitarian and charitable work.
Recognizing and appreciating the contributions of the parishioners and the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee, speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Van Huy affirmed that the socio-economic, defense and security results of the province in 2018 were due to the solidarity and efforts of more than 280,000 parishioners living in the area.
Reality has shown that many models of economic development, new rural construction, and emulation movements of the Catholic community have made great impressions in the community. Many priests, Catholic dignitaries, and Catholics are typical examples at the grassroots level.

Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Van Huy believes that in 2019 and the following years, the Catholic community and the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee will continue to promote the achievements, live a good life, respect God and love the country, and strive for the development of the homeland.
