Agricultural production in Nghe An reaches an average of 80 million VND/ha
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2018, members of the Provincial Farmers' Association made efforts to achieve many results in production, with an average income of 80 million VND/ha, an increase of 15% compared to 2017.
That was the information stated at the conference to summarize the association's work and farmers' movement in 2018 and deploy tasks for 2019 held on the afternoon of December 27.
Attending the conference were comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrade Hoang Dinh Tuan - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Nguyen Quang Tung - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Union; and representatives of members of districts, cities and towns in the whole province.

According to the report at the conference of the Provincial Farmers' Association Executive Committee, in 2018, the total area of food crops reached 242,095 hectares; the total herd of buffaloes and cows reached 752,032, up 7.13%; poultry reached 23.89 million, up 6.8%; newly planted forests reached 1,427 hectares, up 0.28%; farming area reached 19,561 hectares, up 0.84%. Total aquatic product output is estimated at 139,838 tons, up 11.22% over the same period.
In addition, the new rural construction movement continues to develop widely. In 2018, 30 more communes were recognized as meeting new rural standards, bringing the total number of communes meeting new rural standards in the province to 221.

Regarding membership development, districts, cities, towns and associations actively promoted and recruited 12,026 members, bringing the total number of members in the province to 524,558.
In 2018, the association proactively coordinated with vocational schools, agricultural, forestry and fishery extension centers to open 475 training sessions on science and technology transfer for 23,990 members; opened 265 short-term vocational training classes for 9,225 rural workers.

At the conference, representatives of the Farmers' Associations of districts, cities and towns had many recommendations on supporting members in science and technology in seeds and farming methods to complete the set targets; the issue of accessing funds to support farmers in developing economic models because the district's support budget is very limited...
Regarding the key tasks in 2019, Nghe An Farmers' Association focuses on building a movement to compete in good production and business; unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably; mobilize and guide farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms in agriculture; continue to build a movement to build new rural areas; coordinate with sectors, vocational training schools, and enterprises to train and transfer science and technology to farmers.

The Provincial Farmers' Association awarded 2 collectives that excellently completed their tasks in 2018; 49 collectives and 53 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work and the farmers' movement in 2018.
