Tourists fined for bringing dried meat into Taiwan.
On December 21st, a female tourist was fined $6,500 for bringing packages of dried meat into Taiwan (China).
A 55-year-old Chinese female tourist named Huang attempted to pass through the undeclared baggage lane at Taoyuan International Airport but was stopped by security personnel who became suspicious.
After being taken to the Taiwan Bureau of Animal and Plant Quarantine (BAPHIQ), she received a fine.6,500 USDThe reason given was bringing 1.2 kg of chicken, duck, beef, and pork into Taiwan.

Taoyuan International Airport had numerous notices about this ban, but Huang said she didn't understand or pay attention to it. In fact, the food she brought with her was bought at a duty-free shop, just for snacking.
Taiwan has imposed a strict ban on all meat products imported from countries affected by African Swine Fever (ASF), including Vietnam. The government has continuously strengthened its regulations on disease prevention and control, along with corresponding fines.
Besides Ms. Huang, customs officials also fined three other passengers for bringing dried meat into Taiwan. All of them completely disregarded or ignored the island's strict regulations.
152 Vietnamese tourists disappeared while traveling in Taiwan.
The group of 152 Vietnamese tourists have had their visas revoked and will be deported once the Taiwan Immigration Agency's special task force locates them.
