Former teammate of Trong Hoang, Van Binh at SLNA retires at the age of 28
(Baonghean.vn) - After a period of struggling with injuries, striker Nguyen Dinh Hiep has decided to retire from his football career.
Born in 1990, in the same generation as Nguyen Trong Hoang, Au Van Hoan, Hoang Van Binh... but Nguyen Dinh Hiep's career path was quite bumpy. Emerging from the National U21 Finals in 2007, when Nguyen Dinh Hiep was only 17 years old. At the tournament held in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Nguyen Dinh Hiep won the title of "Best Player of the Tournament", even though U21 SLNA only finished in 2nd place.
A few days later at the Thanh Nien Newspaper International U21 Tournament, the striker born in 1990 also won the title of “Top scorer” with 4 goals and helped the Thanh Nien Newspaper U21 Vietnam team win the championship. At that time, Nguyen Dinh Hiep was considered one of the most promising young talents of SLNA as well as of Vietnamese football.

The reward for Nguyen Dinh Hiep’s excellent performances in the SLNA youth teams was a place in the first team of the Nghe An team. Unfortunately, Nguyen Dinh Hiep could not show much for SLNA in big competitions such as V.League and National Cup. As a result, he had to constantly look for opportunities in other teams.
Since 2009, Nguyen Dinh Hiep has played for Khatoco Khanh Hoa, Fico Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, B.Binh Duong, Long An, Hai Phong and most recently the First Division team Long An. Last season, Nguyen Dinh Hiep did not play a single minute for his home team Long An in the 2018 National First Division.
Realizing that his chances of competing in the V.League arena were not really high, and that he was often plagued by injuries, the former SLNA striker decided to retire from football. For now, Nguyen Dinh Hiep will temporarily rest to look for a new job.
