Nghe An: A commune earns nearly 7 billion VND from selling incense roots
(Baonghean.vn) - This year, the selling price of incense roots is twice as high as last year, so incense root growers in Quynh Thang commune, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) have high income. It is estimated that the whole commune earned over 7 billion VND from harvesting 230 hectares of incense roots.

The end of the year is the time when incense root growers harvest to provide raw materials for incense production facilities in the province.
Quynh Thang Commune, Quynh Luu District is the locality with the largest area of incense roots in the province. Incense root growers happily said that this year, the price of incense roots was purchased by traders at 60,000 VND/kg of dry incense, double the price compared to last year, so the income is high.

Mr. Pham Hong Son's family in Hamlet 3, Quynh Thang Commune, planted 15 sao of incense roots, and is currently harvesting with great joy. Mr. Son happily said: This year, with this area of incense roots, the family will harvest about 4 tons of dried roots, selling at 60,000 VND/kg, earning 240 million VND. Before harvesting, there were traders placing orders, so there is no need to worry about consumption.
After the harvest, Mr. Son's family will invest in replanting all the incense roots on this land area.

According to Quynh Thang commune residents, the agarwood tree was planted locally about 30 years ago. Due to the characteristics of the gravelly hilly soil, the agarwood tree grows well and produces many roots. However, to achieve high productivity, agarwood tree growers must invest in proper fertilizers, 1 hectare can invest about 70 million VND to buy seeds and fertilizers. Agarwood tree is easy to grow and easy to care for... currently, people harvest mostly by machine, so it is less difficult.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Luong - agricultural officer of Quynh Thang commune, the commune currently has 310 hectares of incense roots, of which at the end of this year, the whole commune will harvest about 230 hectares that have been planted for 1 year.
1 hectare of incense roots in Quynh Thang has an average yield of 5 tons of dried roots. This year, the purchase price is 60,000 VND/kg, incense root growers in Quynh Thang earn nearly 7 billion VND. This is the year incense root growers in the commune have a record high income.
