The landing ship USS Fort McHenry, which appeared in the Black Sea and is currently docked in the Romanian Port of Constanta, is just a show of force by the United States and no aggression will occur, former Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, General Vladimir Komoyedov, told Sputnik.

It was previously reported that the USS Fort McHenry amphibious assault ship appeared in the Black Sea for the first time. It was in the Black Sea waters from 01:00 (Hanoi time) on January 7. On January 10, it will go to the Black Sea, where the sailors will conduct exercises. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian patrol ship will monitor the actions of the US side.

According to media reports, there are about 500 marines on board the McHenry. The ship has a hold for five hovercraft, and the exercise scenario is expected to involve landing troops and war equipment on the shore. This is indirectly confirmed by the participation of Romanian marines in joint exercises.

"I think this is the way the US demonstrates its power and capabilities. A ship cannot harm Russia. If the US has hostile intentions, then we are absolutely capable of stopping them. This ship will certainly sail along the Crimean coast, but I think there will not be any violations," Komoyedov told Sputnik.
