(Baonghean.vn) - For the past 6 years, every Sunday morning, young people from the group "People I take care of" in Nghe An have been present at Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital to distribute free porridge to poor patients.

At 10am on a Sunday morning in early 2019, a large pot of porridge was delivered to the hospital by young people. As a tradition, hundreds of people lined up to receive free porridge. In the cold weather, the pot of porridge radiated warmth, as if to ease the worries and burdens in the hearts of the patient's relatives.

By noon, the pot of porridge had been distributed. There were nearly 200 portions of porridge that reached the patients' families. The joy on each young person's face could not be hidden, although sweat was still dripping. Stopping to clean up the tools, Pham Trung Kien, head of the group "The People I Care For", said: "The free porridge distribution has been organized by the volunteer team for the past 6 years. Each pot of porridge costs from 800,000 VND. The entire cost is contributed by the group members and by the sponsors."

Mr. Tran Van Cuong - Deputy Director of Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital said: "We strongly support the free porridge pot, filled with love, made by the group "The People I Cuu Mang". They have brought joy to the patients, creating confidence in treatment. This is a very meaningful activity. Although the bowl of porridge is small, it has greatly encouraged the spirit".

It is known that the group “The people I take care of Nghe An” was established in 2012. This is a gathering place for young people, especially students living and studying in Vinh City with a spirit of volunteering for the community. After six years of operation, the group “The people I take care of” has distributed thousands of free bowls of porridge at this hospital.

In addition to cooking porridge for free distribution at the hospital, the young people of “the people I take care of” also carry out other meaningful volunteer activities such as: “Warm winter program for children in the highlands”; “Gifts for the homeless elderly”; “School supplies for poor children”...
