Russian Foreign Ministry accuses the United States of violating Venezuela's sovereignty
US efforts to form an alternative Venezuelan government are a violation of the country's sovereignty, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Washington's policy of establishing unconstitutional government structures in Venezuela, its attempts to ignore reality and recognize some government structures as legitimate while not recognizing others, its continued sanctions pressure, its weakening of the political and economic situation and its endless hardships for ordinary Venezuelans are, in essence, a blatant violation of the country's sovereignty," the statement said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the presidential elections in Venezuela were held under conditions of unprecedented external pressure. According to diplomats, the purpose of this policy was to prevent a wide range of political forces from participating in the vote, which raises questions about the legitimacy of the expression of the will of the people.
The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed confidence that the vote showed the failure of the above calculations.
Previously, Nicolas Maduro was elected President of Venezuela for the 2019-2025 term.
