Man fined 30 million VND for smuggling 55 Chinese phones
(Baonghean.vn) - Checking Mr. Thi's phone buying and selling and repairing kiosk, we discovered 55 Xiaomi brand mobile phones, made in China, without documents proving their legal origin.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong has just signed a decision to administratively sanction commercial violations against Mr. Dang Tho Thi (born in 1990, residing in Nghi Kim commune, Vinh city).
Previously, the authorities inspected Mr. Thi’s phone repair and sales kiosk and discovered 55 Xiaomi brand mobile phones, manufactured in China. At the time of inspection and afterwards, Mr. Thi could not present invoices or documents proving the legal origin of the above phone numbers.
According to the valuation council, the 55 Xiaomi phones seized from Mr. Dang Tho Thi are worth nearly 98 million VND. Mr. Thi's actions violate regulations on trading in smuggled goods worth from 70 million VND to under 100 million VND as prescribed in Point i, Clause 1, Article 17, Decree 185/2013/ND-CP dated November 15, 2013 of the Government.
For this violation, Mr. Thi was administratively fined 30 million VND. In addition, the authorities also confiscated 55 phones and assigned Nghe An Provincial Police to hire an organization to auction the above-mentioned administrative violation evidence to the public fund.
