Due to not attending class due to busy schedules, 7 idol singers such as Jang Hyun Seung, Yong Jun Hyung, Yoon Doo Joon, Yook Sung Jae... had their university degrees revoked by the Korean Ministry of Education and Training.

On January 14, Naver reported that the Korean Ministry of Education and Training has just decided to revoke the university degrees of 7 students including Jang Hyun Seung, Yong Jun Hyung, Yoon Doo Joon, Lee Gi Kwang (BEAST - Highlight), Seo Eun Kwang, Yook Sung Jae (BTOB) and folk singer Choo Ga Yeol.

All 7 of them were idols under the entertainment company Cube Entertainment during their university years.

6 male idols had their university degrees revoked.

Specifically, Dongshin University admitted that their famous students were called in attendance even though they were not in class, by participating in broadcasting activities instead of being present.

However, this regulation is not included in the regulations of the Ministry of Education, so the academic results of the above idols are not recognized. The Korean Ministry of Education also requires schools to strictly discipline violators.

Notably, among the 7 male Kpop artists mentioned above is Choo Ga Yeol, who is currently a lecturer in the Applied Music department despite not having a bachelor's degree, while also studying in the Broadcasting and Television department.

Because his class time overlapped with his teaching time, the male singer often skipped school. The 50-year-old star not only had his degree revoked but also lost his professor title.

Singer Choo Ga Yeol was stripped of his teaching degree and professor title.

The scandal of preferential treatment of Korean artists in universities broke out in August 2018 and caused a stir for a long time. However, the management companies of the male singers all tried to deny it.
