(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, doctors and nurses of Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital and some neighboring hospitals have been updated with information on endoscopic surgery techniques to reconstruct and restore joint ligaments, allowing movement immediately after surgery using the Internal Brace technique.

On January 16, Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital organized a Sports Medicine Seminar, with the theme "Update on advances in arthroscopic surgery, enhancing sports movement and superior strength".

At the workshop, Dr. Mark C. Ferguson - Irish expert, Training Director of Arthrex introduced and instructed on new surgical techniques, first implemented in Nghe An and Vietnam.

Internal Brace is the biggest step forward in the treatment and rehabilitation of damaged ligaments in the past 30 years. It is an arthroscopic surgical method to restore and reconstruct joint ligaments, allowing for movement immediately after surgery that current techniques cannot provide.

Expert Mark C. Ferguson emphasized: “The outstanding advantage of this technique is the repair mechanism by exploiting the body's natural recovery power. Internal Brace helps minimize re-injury to the joint. The patient's recovery time is significantly shortened compared to conventional arthroscopic surgery. After about 3 days, the patient can walk immediately, after a week they can move and some patients can return to high-intensity sports after 3 months.

Internal Brace can be combined with all ligament reconstruction and rehabilitation surgeries; Minimize the risk of arthritis; Help the damaged joint to achieve higher strength and stability than the joint before the injury".

This technique can be applied to all common knee, ankle, shoulder and elbow injuries, as well as more complex and serious surgeries on these joints including diseases such as: cruciate ligament rupture, post-traumatic dislocation of the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist and metacarpophalangeal joints. It is especially good in post-traumatic multi-ligament injuries of the joints.

Immediately after the workshop, expert Mark C. Ferguson directly instructed hospital doctors and endoscopic surgeons on autologous ligament restoration.Enhance post-operative mobility for a patient at Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital.

This is an advanced technique applied for the first time in Nghe An and some Central Hospitals nationwide; opening up new opportunities for patients needing arthroscopic surgery and treatment of diseases related to ligament injuries in the knee, shoulder, elbow joints, etc. This method helps patients exercise early, increase joint strength and avoid complications due to long-term immobilization after surgery of previous methods./.
