(Baonghean.vn) - According to defender Nguyen Van Hanh, currently playing for Hai Phong, he has just been added to the Vietnam U22 squad by coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan in preparation for the 2019 Southeast Asian U22 Championship.

In the list announced by the VFF a few days ago, Nguyen Van Hanh was not included. However, recently, coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan submitted a request to the VFF to call up his former pupil, who played for HAGL in the V.League last season, and the request was approved.

This reward is also an opportunity for the player from Yen Thanh to prove his talent after a rather difficult period. As is known, Nguyen Van Hanh is a product of the SLNA youth academy, but his contract with the Nghe An team was terminated more than two years ago.

Despite being taken in by HAGL, the defender born in 1998 couldn't stay long at Pleiku Stadium. Due to a foul in the match between HAGL and Quang Nam in Round 13 of the V.League 2018, Nguyen Van Hanh had to leave the team from the mountain town to find a new club.

At the end of last season, the former SLNA U21 player went to Hai Phong to try out for a team. Nguyen Van Hanh's efforts were finally rewarded with a 3-year contract. At the training tournament organized by Viettel (January 4-12), Nguyen Van Hanh played in all 4 matches and made a significant contribution to the team's second-place finish.

Thus, the list of U22 Vietnam players preparing for the Southeast Asian U22 Championship includes three players who graduated from the SLNA youth academy: Thai Ba Sang, Mai Sy Hoang, and Nguyen Van Hanh.
