Vietnam officially wins ticket to Asian Cup round of 16 thanks to fewer yellow cards than Lebanon
(Baonghean.vn) - With Lebanon only winning 4-1 against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, our Vietnam team has officially won the right to enter the round of 16 of the 2019 Asian Cup with 4th place among the 4 best 3rd place teams in the group stage.
A 3-1 victory over Turkmenistan helped Oman book its place in the Asian Cup round of 16. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team must continue to wait for the result of Lebanon's match to know whether they will continue or not.

Holding the right to decide the ticket to the next round at the 2019 Asian Cup, Lebanon was forced to push up the attacking formation non-stop in the following minutes. In the 9th minute, Felix Michel unexpectedly scored a goal against goalkeeper Myong-Guk Ri to equalize the score 1-1 for Lebanon. Then, the referee showed a yellow card to Alexander Michel of Lebanon in the 30th minute.
In the second half, Lebanon scored 3 more times against the North Korean team in the 65th, 80th and 90+8th minutes. Thereby, they equalized the score (3 points), goal difference (-1) and the number of goals scored compared to the Vietnam team (4 goals).

However, at the 90+9 minute, Mohamad Haidar received a yellow card for protesting to the referee. When the final whistle blew, the players from the Middle East still had to cry. Because the 4-1 victory was still not enough to help Lebanon advance.
Coach Radulovic and his team received 2 more yellow cards than the Vietnamese team and had to accept watching us win the last ticket to the 1/8 round of the 2019 Asian Cup thanks to the fair-play index.
