(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of his familiarity with the terrain, Lang Van Thai (residing in Anh Son district, Nghe An) frequently crossed the border into Laos to get drugs and bring them back to the mainland for sale. However, his crimes were caught by the authorities.

Through reconnaissance and situational awareness, Thanh Chuong District Police discovered a drug trafficking ring led by individuals residing in Anh Son District. They frequently crossed the border into Laos to buy drugs, then transported them back to the mainland to sell to other individuals in Thanh Chuong District and neighboring areas.

Faced with that situation, in early November 2018, Thanh Chuong District Police established a Project coded 118H to combat this type of crime. During the process of fighting the project, Thanh Chuong District Police reported and received direction from the Provincial Police leadership and coordination from the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, the Technical Department and the Internal Security Department.

After more than 2 months of fighting, collecting documents and using synchronous professional measures, on January 18, 2019, the Task Force discovered that the subjects were present in Thanh Chuong district to prepare for illegal drug trafficking. The units in the Task Force proactively solved the case.

At around 3:00 a.m. on January 19, 2019, in the mountainous area of ​​Hamlet 8, Thanh An Commune, Thanh Chuong District, the Task Force caught Lang Van Thai (born in 1981), residing in Kim Tien Hamlet, Phuc Son Commune, Anh Son District, and seized 8 heroin cakes, 4 kg of crystal meth, and 3,000 synthetic drug pills.

Currently, the subject and evidence have been transferred to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department for further investigation and clarification according to authority.

On the morning of January 21, 2019, at Thanh Chuong District Police, Nghe An Provincial Police and Thanh Chuong District People's Committee awarded the 118H Project Team for their outstanding achievements in the fight against drug crimes. Colonel Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police praised the outstanding achievements of Thanh Chuong District Police, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department and coordinating units in the campaigns to attack and suppress crimes to ensure security and order before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2019.

At the same time, a reward of 10 million VND was awarded to the Task Force and the forces participating in solving the case. Comrade Nguyen Van Que - Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee also awarded the Task Force 10 million VND.
