The demand for buying ornamental plants such as peach, kumquat, orange, grapefruit or various flower pots... to display during Tet has increased, so the service of transporting flowers and ornamental plants is also quite "popular".

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Vinh, a motorbike taxi driver in Cua Nam ward, said: “During Tet, people buy a lot of flowers and ornamental plants. Many of the plants are big and heavy, so customers cannot carry them home themselves, so they have to hire someone to do it. Normally, I drive a motorbike taxi, but now I have added a stand to carry the ornamental plants when customers need it. Making a few trips a day is equal to the cost of a taxi driver waiting at the bus station or train station from morning to night. Some trips, I get paid several hundred thousand dong.”

“Spring is the season for planting trees”, therefore, the demand for planting ornamental trees in private homes, temples, and offices increases. This is also an opportunity for gardeners and those who grow ornamental trees to “enter the season” to do business.

Mr. Xuan Thang in Nghi Lien commune (Vinh city) specializes in providing ornamental plants and said: “From the beginning of December until now, there have been many people ordering ornamental plants and fruit trees to plant in the campus, doubling or tripling the usual number. The prices of the plants have also increased; the types that are popular in the market are plum, star apple, jackfruit, grapefruit, banyan, banyan, etc. To have products to supply, we have to travel to remote villages to buy and transport them to the owners' homes to plant. Normally, only me and 2 other people can meet the job, but during this peak season, we have to recruit 5 to 7 more people to keep up with the orders received.”

Due to limited time at the end of the year, as well as limited care skills, at the end of the year, many people in Vinh City hire workers to trim and care for ornamental plants for Tet. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong - a resident of Nghi Lien Commune (Vinh City) has many years of experience in providing services to take care of flowers and ornamental plants at home for customers, said thatNormally, every day she takes care of about 5 bonsai trees and dozens of flower pots of all kinds. The cost of caring for and pruning each tree ranges from 50,000 to 300,000 VND depending on the difficulty and value of the tree. Long-standing, beautiful trees cost millions of VND to care for, but it takes a whole week.

Not only skillful and meticulous, bonsai caretakers also need to have knowledge. Mr. Le Van Chat in Nghi An commune (Vinh city) shared: "Currently, bonsai care services at home are of interest to many people. For simple flowers, the cost of care and pruning is a few tens of thousands of dong, but for valuable trees during Tet such as peach, apricot, and sanh... the cost is up to millions of dong. Therefore, the income of bonsai workers during Tet is up to tens of millions of dong. However, if there are risks such as breakage, death, or shaping that does not meet the customer's requirements, the worker must pay compensation to the customer."
