Quynh Luu District Police have just arrested 17 people for gambling in disguise, confiscating 5 fish shooting machines and monkey rabbits. This is the result of a high-profile campaign to crack down on all types of crimes during the Lunar New Year 2019.
On the afternoon of January 30, Major Nguyen Thanh Hoan - Captain of the Criminal Investigation Team on Criminal - Economic and Drug Crimes of Quynh Luu District Police said: Recently, in Quynh Luu District, there has been a gambling situation in the form of playing fish shooting machines and monkey rabbits.

Participants will exchange cash for points. Each fish shooting and monkey rabbit machine has about 8 players at the same time. If participating, each player can lose 1 - 2 million VND/night and most of them lose.
This is an illegal form of gambling that has caused public outrage because it has complicated security and order, and petty theft has occurred frequently in many localities.
Faced with that situation, the leader of Quynh Luu district police directed the criminal investigation team on economic crimes and drugs to establish project 119B to combat this type of crime.

During the investigation and monitoring process, at 10:00 p.m. on January 29, 2019, the police force of Quynh Luu district successfully broke up Project 119B, arrested 17 subjects, and seized 5 fish shooting and monkey rabbit shooting machines at 5 locations at the subjects' homes.
They are Nguyen Dang Danh (born in 1974) in Quynh Tan commune; Nguyen Dinh Chinh (born in 1985) in Quynh Van commune; Ho Than Hung (born in 1994) in Quynh Minh commune; Pham Van Cong in Thanh Cong hamlet, Quynh Long commune and Pham Nguyen Giao (born in 1976) in Quynh Hau commune.
Currently, Quynh Luu district police are consolidating the case file and will initiate criminal proceedings against those who have sufficient elements to constitute a crime, while the other subjects will be administratively punished according to Article 26 of Decree 167 of the Government.
