A day earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced his intention to run for a second term in the country's presidential election. He said Ukraine needs peace with Russia, "cold but peaceful".
Speaking at a press conference, responding to the above statement, Mr. Peskov stated: "First of all, there is no war between Russia and Ukraine. There is a civil war in Ukraine, there are events in Ukraine that were instigated by the country's own officials and led to the establishment of two (self-proclaimed) republics in the southeastern region of Ukraine."
Regarding the Venezuela issue, Mr. Peskov welcomed the goodwill of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in his willingness to dialogue with the opposition to resolve the current political crisis in this Latin American country.
The Kremlin representative emphasized that Russia is ready to contribute to resolving the crisis in Venezuela without interfering in the country's internal affairs, and criticized the intervention of some third parties in Venezuela's internal affairs./.
