Suspect in stadium taxi driver murder arrested

Five days after killing the taxi driver, the 20-year-old suspect, from Nghe An, was arrested while playing at an Internet cafe in Hoa Binh.

On the evening of February 3, the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police and Nam Tu Liem District Police arrested suspect Nguyen Canh An (20 years old, from Do Luong, Nghe An), who is suspected of murdering a taxi driver at the gate of My Dinh Stadium.

"The suspect was arrested while playing at an internet cafe in Hoa Binh. We are transferring An to Hanoi to assist with the investigation," said a police officer.

Earlier, at 7:00 p.m. on January 29, at the side gate of My Dinh Stadium, a taxi driver opened the car door and ran away calling for help. After running about 15 meters, he collapsed and became motionless. Some people helped to take him to the emergency room, but the victim was too badly injured with a cut on his neck and died later.

To capture the suspect, the Criminal Police Department, Hanoi Police issued a wanted notice. Using a fruit knife to commit the crime, the suspect was determined to have run from My Dinh Stadium through Tan An Binh Street, towards Nhan My Village (My Dinh Ward) from about 7:10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on January 29.
