The Russian Northern Fleet has established a special unit to combat sabotage.
A new, specialized unit dedicated to countering underwater sabotage has been established within the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet in Severomorsk.

"The main mission of the detachment is to ensure the security of the naval base, which includes the flagship of the Northern Fleet, the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser 'Piotr the Great'," the statement read.
According to press department data, the new unit will be part of the surface fleet of the Northern Fleet and will perform a rapid response function in the event of an attack on the protected military town territory, both from the sea and on the coast.
Notably, the team comprises contracted military personnel with experience in diving and serving in special forces, equipped with automatic personal weapons, diving equipment, and high-speed boats to patrol their assigned protected area.
