2 whales washed ashore in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On February 8, 2019, the 4th day of Tet, fishermen in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district held a funeral for 2 whales that washed ashore according to the coastal religious customs.
Earlier, on the morning of the third day of Tet, people in Hamlet 10, Dien Thinh Commune, discovered two whales (commonly called “Mr. Whales”) washed ashore, dead. One weighed 70kg, was 1.5m long, and the other weighed 10kg.

According to the customs and beliefs of fishermen, whales are a symbol of guardian angels, helping fishermen to go out to sea safely, so the people and authorities of Dien Thinh commune organized a solemn funeral with full rituals.
