Hoang Mai fishermen hit a jackpot with herring in the first sea trip of the new year.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of the 5th day of Tet, dozens of fishing boats docked at Quynh Phuong fishing port (Hoang Mai town - Nghe An) full of herring, earning hundreds of millions of VND/boat.

Having just arrived at Quynh Phuong fishing port, the owner of the NA 90478 TS fishing boat, fisherman Tran Dinh Dong, residing in Quynh Phuong ward (Hoang Mai town), excitedly said that on the first sea trip of the new year, the boat caught more than 5 tons of herring; the selling price at the port was 20,000 VND/kg, his boat earned hundreds of millions of VND.

While busy with the crew members transferring fish to the port for consumption, the owner of the NA 94632 TS ship, Nguyen Van Thanh, said that his ship set sail on the 4th day of Tet. After just one night of fishing, the weather was favorable and his ship brought in more than 4 tons of herring and nearly 2 tons of other types of fish. Thanh's first trip to sea this year earned more than 150 million VND; on average, each worker on the ship was paid nearly 10 million VND.
Immediately after transporting fish ashore, fishermen in Hoang Mai town are busy preparing fishing gear, ready for a new trip out to sea to welcome "sea luck".

According to Mr. Ho Xuan Huong - Chairman of Quynh Phuong Ward People's Committee: The ward's fishing fleet has more than 600 vessels, the expected catch in 2019 is expected to reach 20,000 tons. The successful fishing trips at the beginning of the year will motivate fishermen to go offshore and develop the economy during the year./.
